Overtime is not a favour but pay required by law. Turkish labour law sets calculation rules with precision.
Base hours
Daily base: 7.5 hours. Weekly base: 45 hours. Anything beyond is overtime.
Overtime types
Ordinary overtime (45–90 weekly): +50%. Night overtime (22:00–06:00): +50%. Weekly day-off overtime: +100%. Public-holiday overtime: +100% plus the holiday allowance.
Ceiling
Annual overtime cannot exceed 270 hours. Hours beyond are unlawful and cannot be waived.
Evidence
Time records, work emails, colleague witnesses, camera footage, timestamps. All admissible.
Time limit
Overtime claims expire 5 years after they accrue. Claim early — the clock keeps running.
